Circle of Security® Parenting™
Imagine truly understanding your child’s inner world so you could nurture a lasting connection…
Circle of Security® Parenting™ offers a blueprint for understanding what your child needs from you to feel secure + thrive.
based on decades of attachment research. UTILISED by parents around the globe.
Circle of Security® Parenting™(COSP) is a parenting program that guides parents and caregivers how to enhance the connection with their child, and help nurture a secure attachment.
Decades of attachment research has shown secure attachment benefits self-esteem, empathy, resilience, behavioural development, self-reliance, emotion-regulation, school readiness, learning, and well-being.
The COSP program is designed to help parents make sense of their child’s needs, so they can respond effectively and provide the sense of safety and security children need to reach their potential.
The program is designed for parents of children aged 0-6 years but the concepts can be applied throughout childhood.

THESE GROUPS ARE NOT A GOOD FIT FOR parents who:
- Are not attending willingly and with an open mind (e.g. mandated to attend against their wishes by legal proceedings or coerced by a partner)
- Do not wish to reflect on their parenting or their relationship with their child
- Are looking for ‘quick fixes’ or methods that prioritise compliant behaviour over children’s emotional wellbeing
- Do not respect privacy or the confidential nature of group programs
Parenting isn’t something we do. It’s a relationship.
i’m natalie- a mum, psychologist + registered CIRCLE OF SECURITY® facilitator
Training as a facilitator for the Circle of Security® Parenting™ program (COSP) was not only beneficial for my practice as a psychologist working with families, it was the best thing I’ve done for my parenting.
Years of training and experience taught me that strong attachments and connections play a huge role in human development. But once I became a parent, putting my knowledge into practice with my own children was harder than I imagined!
Raising children can be really overwhelming, and it’s easy to feel like you’re surviving rather than thriving.
Circle of Security® Parenting™ has helped me clarify why I was stuck in certain patterns with my parenting and provided a simple framework to organise my knowledge. I use this information daily to figure out where my children are on the Circle of Security®, what they need from me at that moment, and as a way of checking my own responses and emotions.
I’m passionate about helping parents strengthen the connection with their child and set the stage for healthy, secure relationships in the future.

Questions? I have answers!
When and where are sessions held?
I offer sessions on weekday evenings, typically at 8pm (Melbourne time) to allow parents to get little ones off to bed first.
Sessions are held online via Zoom, as it meets the strict requirements for online security and privacy set out by the Australian Psychological Society (APS). Clients are provided with a secure video link prior to sessions.
Do I need any special equipment?
No, you just require an internet connection and a device that has a camera, speaker and microphone, and a web browser that supports Zoom (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge).
It’s recommended that you use headphones if you’re going to be in a space with background noise.
What happens if I can’t make a session?
Due to the private nature of the program, group sessions are not recorded. If you are unable to make a session, please contact me and I will do my best to catch you up briefly before the next session.
What age children is Circle of Security Parenting™ for?
The program has been designed with children age 0-6 in mind, but the concepts are applicable for older children too.
It’s recommended if you’re pregnant or have a newborn that you wait until your baby is about 4 months old before you do the program. This will enable you to put the information into practice and get more from the interactive sessions.
Can my partner/co-parent attend too?
Absolutely! At no additional cost.
In fact, completing the Circle of Security Parenting™ course together can be a wonderful way to develop your understanding of each other’s parenting strengths and challenges. It could also help you to get on the same page and move forward with some common goals in mind.
Is this a behaviour management course?
No. The Circle of Security Parenting™ program looks beyond behaviour and focuses on developing the strong and secure attachment that is necessary for children’s social, emotional and behavioural development. The course does not provide behaviour management strategies, ‘quick fixes’ or parenting hacks. The goal is for parents and caregivers to develop greater awareness of what their child is trying to communicate through their behaviour, as well as ways parents can meet those underlying needs.
How is Circle of Security Parenting™ different from other parenting courses?
Circle of Security Parenting™ focuses on helping parents to understand secure attachment, and this is relevant for every family. It was developed from decades of research on attachment styles and has been implemented around the world since 2007. There’s an excellent animation on the Circle of Security International website that provides an overview. Click here to find it.
The program provides a simple blueprint for understanding what needs children are communicating through their behaviour. It also equips parents with information on how to meet those needs, to support their children’s social, emotional and behavioural development.
Experience a deeper connection with your child and improve your confidence as a parent.
